EXEMPT POSITION DESCRIPTION

MISSION OUTREACH COORDINATOR

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership in equipping our congregation to witness to the truth and grace of Jesus Christ as expressed in the Session three-to-five year goals for Witnessing.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Manager to oversee, implement and/or partner in producing the following Mission Outreach events:

• Hope Walks, an HIV/AIDS fundraiser
• Do Justice weekend, a weekend which coordinates projects that our congregation can participate in, enacting their worship
• Global Church Conference
• Gift World, an alternative gift market
• Short-term mission trips for both Mission Outreach and other departments          

Partner with the Pastor of Mission Outreach and Evangelism (MOE) in

• Developing and articulating vision, strategies and programs to nurture friends and members of First Pres in their participation in mission and outreach activities
• Nurturing and cultivating ongoing mission partner relationships
• Linking with other First Pres ministries about mission possibilities and participation
• Working alongside the Pastor in nurturing the leadership of the Mission Outreach Department (MOD) to discover their gifts as leaders and to help nurture their own unique call and release them for ministry as it relates to MOE.

• Personal faith in Jesus Christ
• A passion for sharing the gospel in a postmodern setting
• Ability and experience in communicating the gospel clearly
• Project management experience, with an appreciation for working within budget and on time
• Ability to meld professional and volunteer resources
• Ability to motivate, train, and encourage groups of volunteers
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in navigating cultural and ethnic differences
• Ability to work well with a wide variety of people both within and outside the church
• Self-directed in work and proactive in coordinating with others in leadership
• Computer, web, and email savvy, graphic arts ability greatly appreciated

Schedule:

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week)

Normal hours: Monday – Friday with flexibility during project times
