Friends, colleagues and music lovers,

Holy Week and Easter are upon us this week. It is a special time for Christians around the world. If you don't have a worship home, I would like to invite you to First Presbyterian Church in Alameda for Maundy Thursday and Easter services. These are moving and joyous services, rich in tradition and ritual, with extraordinary music of Mozart, Vivaldi and more (details below)! Even if you've never attended or participated in such services before, you'll enjoy the music and so much more. Those of you that will be attending, singing and playing services at your own worship homes, know that we will all be singing together in spirit.

I hope you have a blessed Easter, full of music and love.
David Zechman, Music Director, First Presbyterian Church of Alameda

Maundy Thursday Tenebrae, March 20, 7:30 p.m. ~ A New Commandment, New Love, New Life in Christ!
Excerpts from Mozart’s Requiem with violin and a moving choral arrangement the American folk hymn What Wondrous Love Is This by Paul Christiansen.
We will share communion at the Table mirroring The Last Supper (everyone is welcome at the Communion Table!), readers recount the story of Christ’s sacrifice and we sing hymns of the Passion as candles are extinguished one by one, symbolizing the darkness (Tenebrae) of the Crucifixion. A bell is tolled thirty times (the price of betrayal) and the strepitus (earthquake) is sounded symbolizing the earthquake at the moment of Jesus' death. Childcare and infant nursery available during the service. First Pres Chancel Choir & Wind Ensemble directed by David Zechman; Mary Kay Hickox, guest violinist.

Easter Sunday, March 23, 10:30 a.m. "Come and See, Go and Tell" Alleluia, Christ Is Risen!
The grand surprise of the Easter resurrection cries out to be told over and over again. Thank God for earthquakes and angels and glowing white garments, and most of all for the truth that just cannot be kept quiet. Celebrate Christ’s Resurrection singing glorious Alleluias. Our 25-voice Chancel Choir, Wind Ensemble and chamber orchestra perform glorious music of Vivaldi and Mozart (details below). An Easter egg hunt for the children and fellowship time with coffee and refreshments follow the worship service. Arrive early for the best seats and parking. The prelude music begins at 10:15 a.m.
