Position Description
TITLE: Director for Healthy Congregations
PURPOSE: The purpose of the position of Director for Healthy Congregations during this season of change is to provide leadership and support for healthy and growing congregations and churches in transition.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND RELATIONSHIPS: As an employee of the Presbytery of San Francisco, the Director of Healthy Congregations is accountable to the Head of Staff.
GOALS:
- Serve as lead consultant in the Presbytery’s work with congregations in minister transitions.
- Serve as lead consultant in the Presbytery’s work with congregations seeking or receiving grants for new church development or transformation.
- Provide training for pastors, session members and Presbytery committee members to support their work in the development of healthy and growing congregations.
- Practice self-care and attend, lead or participate regularly in worship.
- Present a professional appearance, act ethically and maintain confidentiality.
- Utilize study leave to expand skills, knowledge and abilities needed to fulfill the purpose of this position.
- Serve the Presbytery and the broader church in other ways as directed by the head of staff that support the realization of the Presbytery’s mission.

EVALUATION: Annual evaluations with the head of staff according to the process approved by the Personnel Committee.
TERMS OF THE POSITION: This is a full time, exempt position for a Minister of Word and Sacrament of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The person serving as Director for Healthy Congregations is not eligible for a permanent position with the Presbytery. The initial contract will be for a term of three years subject to two one-year extensions.
